In the printing industry, we have a standard of color printed on any products and today we are going to talk about Pantone color and its control method in the printing.
CYMK&RGB
For most of our customers, they may already familiar with RGB(Red, Green, Blue) as a common and standard expression of colors. It tells the parameter of an exact color. As a great example, R = 0, G=255, B= 255 is the mixture proportion of Color,Cyan. However, in the printing industry. We have a different standard, CMYK, which stands for cyan, magenta, yellow and black. It works a similar way as RGB. In reality, we have ink from natural resources. Therefore, it would be hard to get an ink which is originally and naturally red from environmentally-friendly material. That is why we have a CMYK as a mixture standard and Pantone color, as a reference of the mixture.
Pantone color
Pantone color is a reference for CMYK mixture. Same as RGB, it gives you an idea of what color would come out depends on the ratio of your CMYK mixtures. Pantone Inc. is quite well-known in our printing industry. Meanwhile, Pantone is famous for color hence, every aspect that applies color, printing, clothing, digital video and photos and etc. It’s also a leading company for color fashion. Insititute and Pantone card
In printing, we have a color card from Pantones Inc. It’s physical color card produced as a standard reference. Normally, we wouldn’t take digital color as a standard. Because of color on different screens(monitors), different eyes could be different. Hence, some customers offer the parameter of RGB would be converter to CMYK instead and by referring to the Pantone color card, we can see what it really looks like.
Pantone color control
As mentioned, to give your products an accurate and precise color, we would highly recommend customers offer a CMYK parameter for our four-color printing. However, there are some situations when only four-color printing just can’t have a satisfying result. So apart from CMYK color, we have spot color, which is referred as spot color printing. This gives us greater control over Pantone colors and color of your products.
But still, things aren’t always perfect. There could be a tiny difference even with such extreme Pantones color control. Our printing color would have a similarity of over 95% with the color you required. Also, there would be difference under different enviroment-light. So that tiny difference won’t affect the appearance of the products. However, if you have a strict requirement on color, we would take several trials before the production starts and until you are happy with the result.
